Kluwer was one of the largest publishers of scientific information in the world. Kluwer had offices in New York, Boston, Dordrecht, London, Moscow and Taipei, and publish over 650 renowned journals and 1,200 books and reference works per year.

As per the transaction announced in January 2004, Kluwer Academic Publishers was acquired by Springer. Kluwer Academic Publishers provided information products and services to academic and corporate researchers in humanities and social sciences; environmental and plant sciences; physical sciences; behavioral sciences; engineering and computer sciences; and biosciences. The company offers English-language books, journals, and loose-leaf publications in print and online. It was formerly a subsidiary of Wolters Kluwer NV.

Kluwer Academic Publishers is headquartered in Dordrecht, The Netherlands. Kluwer Academic Publishers has merged with Springer-Verlag; the two publishing companies are now operating under the joint Springer brand. As a result, this Kluwer website has been redirected to springeronline.com.
